Cegedim acquires Webstar Health

18 November 2013

Cegedim SA announced today that it had completed the acquisition of Webstar Health, a leading UK clinician-led healthcare consulting and IT services group.

The senior management team of Webstar Health, led by founders Musa Dhalla and Gianpiero Celino, both pharmacists, will remain with the business to continue its development.

Simon Driver, Managing Director of Cegedim Rx, said: “We are delighted with this new addition to the Cegedim Group of companies. Webstar Health will play an increased role in helping both pharmacies and GPs in operating within the new areas of opportunities created by the new NHS structure. Their contacts with CCG’s and public health departments in local authorities, combined with their wealth of knowledge in both creating and managing services, will be a great asset to us in providing our customers with a more integrated approach in service delivery.”

Working with the NHS, Webstar Health have established expertise in the design, implementation, management and operation of primary care services. Founded in 2002 to support the commissioning of pharmacy services, Webstar Health’s services now extend to optometry and other primary care providers.

Cegedim is the UK’s largest supplier of pharmacy management software and the acquisition of Webstar Health brings to the Cegedim Group significant skills and experience in management of primary care pharmacy services. This comes at a time when pharmacy contractors continue to face pressure to deliver more pharmacy services, beyond their role in dispensing prescriptions.
